Jen Congdon is a wife and mother to three children. Jen and her family currently reside just outside Shenandoah National Park, Virginia, on a small farm with a yet to be determined amount of animals. She is an avid reader in her “spare” time with an ever growing book collection. She is a homeschool mom to her three children and teaches early primary at her local homeschool co-op. As a mother of three, Jen understands the importance of nature and outdoor play. She’s a firm believer in “playing outside until dark,” and beyond with a flashlight! In Jen’s debut picture book, A Good Day for a Hike, she hopes to inspire families to experience the outdoor world in new and exciting ways. When she’s not writing or teaching, you can find Jen enjoying the outdoors with her family and their animals, gardening, camping, or of course hiking.

Illustrator

Cait Brennan is an easily-excited illustrator from the coastal town of Charleston, South Carolina. At an early age, she discovered that people smile or, even better, laugh. As a total ham, that was very appealing. Her motivations haven’t changed much, and she loves celebrating joyful moments, big and small, in her work.
